Veterans' Day Program
On November 7th, 2008, Owen's third grade class held a Veteran's Day Program to honor those who served and those who continue to serve our country in the armed services.
During the program, uniforms donated by Owen's Grandfather Olaf, a member of American Legion Post 180 in Vienna, VA, were used.

The WWI Army uniform on the left belonged to Owen's Great Grandfather, Ole. The WWII Navy uniform on the right belonged to Grandfather Olaf. The children on stage told stories about the history of the armed services, while Owen and other classmates played xylophones as background music.
At the conclusion of the program, the children sang each military service's song. Veterans and active military personnel in the audience were asked to stand and be recognized for their service to our country during the song of their branch of the military.
Grandfather Olaf stood during "Anchors Aweigh." Grandfather Harry, who is also a member of Post 180, stood during "Off We Go Into the Wild Blue Yonder."
