What is This?

Caveat emptor: This information has not been updated since the Joomla! 1.5.3 release in April 2008.

This is some stuff I learned while attempting to upgrade my existing Joomla! 1.0.x templates to work with Joomla! CMS 1.5.  There's nothing much original here.  The information in the underlying pages was gathered from Developer Blogs, Documentation and various Forum Posts at the official Joomla! Project web site.

Very Brief Overview

Joomla! is an Open Source (GPLv2) CMS that uses modules, components, and plugins to organize, manipulate and present content. A complete discussion of these constructs is beyond the scope of this discussion. If you are new to all this, you can find more information about this stuff at Joomla.org:

rhuk Solarflare II for Joomla! 1.5.x – This is the popular Solarflare template that was initially developed for the Mambo CMS and subsequently modified for use with the Joomla! CMS 1.0.x releases.  Many of the Mambo and Joomla! based sites out there today use this template or a variation thereof.  This template is for use with Joomla! 1.5.x running in native mode.  It will not work on Joomla! 1.0.x sites.

rhuk Solarflare II Gray for Joomla! 1.5.x – This is the same Solarflare template with a gray/red theme.  This template is for use with Joomla! 1.5.x running in native mode.  It will not work on Joomla! 1.0.x sites.

hrpr_gray_hz for Joomla! 1.0.x – This is an earlier version of the current hrpr.com template.  It is a variable width template that shows best on screen resolutions of 1024x768 and above.  This template is for use with Joomla! 1.0.x.  It will not work on Joomla! 1.5.x sites.

All of the software downloads contained herein are open source.  In 25 words or less, this means that once you download the software, you can do pretty much whatever you want with it or to it.  The software contains GPLv2 licensed code, so please adhere to the terms and conditions contained therein when having your way with it!
