The Linux server (Doofus) here on hrpr.com's local network has been contributing spare CPU cycles to the SETI@Home Project since March 2003.  Since then Doofus has been faithfully processing signal analysis tasks 24 x 7.  Who knows, maybe one of these days SETI@Home will assign a task to Doofus that decodes to "ET Phone Home."

Note: In July 2009, another Linux server (Gunston) joined Doofus in contributing spare spare CPU cycles to SETI@Home.

Doofus does 100!

Doofus completed 100 SETI@Home work units on 13 October 2003.  Which is a real accomplishment, considering he is a 1997 vintage 200 Mhz Pentium MMX!  Doofus started processing SETI@Home work units on 13 March 2003, so guess he will hit 200 work units around May 2004.

Doofus completed 250 SETI@Home work units on 5 May 2004.  Since he's been upgraded to a 500 Mhz Pentium III, he's completing two work units per day.  Prior to the upgrade, it took him two days to complete a work unit!

Doofus has completed 528 "Classic" SETI@Home work units as of 26 October 2004, .  He will no longer process "Classic" work units as he has transitioned to the new SETI@Home sytem which uses BOINC.
